America West Puts a New Spin on Savings

America West Airlines (NYSE: AWA) is celebrating the expansion of its Las Vegas hub by offering the popular Wheel of Savings. Customers can take a spin on America West`s Wheel of Savings to receive up to a 50 percent discount on already low America West fares between Las Vegas and every city America West serves in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

Now through Sept. 8, 2003, travelers purchasing tickets to and from Las Vegas at, for travel between Sept. 2 and Dec. 16, 2003, will receive a discount on fares by taking a spin of the wheel. Once customers purchase their tickets, the price will be reduced by a discount between five percent and 50 percent, as determined by the spin of the wheel.

“As a way of celebrating our new nonstop service to Las Vegas, we are excited to offer customers this unique and interactive online promotion that is guaranteed to save them even more money off America West`s everyday low fares,” said Scott Bowers, vice president, revenue management.

Today, America West announced new service between Las Vegas and St. Louis; Des Moines, Iowa; and Billings, Mont. (See separate news release for specific dates.) With this new service, America West serves more than 40 destinations with nonstop service from Las Vegas.

Discounts offered in the Wheel of Savings promotion are available only through the airline`s Web site, Discounts are randomly determined. Odds of receiving any particular discount are: 5 percent discount—59 in 100; 10 percent discount—1 in 4; 25 percent discount—3 in 25; 50 percent discount—1 in 25.

Discounts will not apply to: previously purchased fares; Passenger Facility Charges (PFC) of up to $18 per itinerary; U.S. international arrival/departure taxes; foreign departure taxes; customs and immigration fees; civil aviation security fee; Animal & Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) and tourism taxes; or any combined fees and taxes of up to $100. The Wheel of Savings is not available on Nov. 23, 25, 26, 29, and 30 as well as Dec. 1. Travel to certain destinations will be provided by America West Express, which is operated by subsidiary airlines of Mesa Air Group as well as Big Sky Airlines.
