Copa Airlines Reports Performance

Copa Airlines has reported a 91.18 percent on-time performance record for 2nd quarter 2003. Copa has one of the best records of on-time performances in the airline industry worldwide. The airline measures its on-time performance utilizing the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) industry standard measure of a maximum 15-minute variation from the scheduled time of arrival. According to the DOT`s Air Travel Consumer Report published Aug. 7, 2003, the U.S. carrier with the highest on-time performance record during the 2nd quarter achieved a 90.6 percent record, putting Copa`s on-time performance ahead of all U.S. carriers.
“Copa`s consistently high rankings in on-time performance are a reflection of our dedicated employees, modern fleet, and efficient operations,” said Jorge Garcia, Commercial Vice President, Copa Airlines. “Whether passengers are traveling for business or pleasure, they want to arrive on time.”
Copa Airlines has a strategic alliance with Continental Airlines, which has produced an interconnection of route systems on flights between the United States and Latin America. Both airlines participate in OnePass, the frequent flyer program of Continental Airlines and its affiliates, and share benefits of Presidents Clubs around the world.

In November 2002, PODER Magazine, Booz, Allen & Hamilton and Egon Zehnder International gave Copa the “Best Regionalization in Latin America” award, and in December of that same year, the Central American Tourism Federation gave Copa Airlines the “Turismo Sin Fronteras” (Tourism Without Boundaries) award. In April 2003 Copa received AirFinance Journal`s first-ever “Developing Airline of the Year” Award.
From its base at Tocumen International Airport in Panama City, Copa Airlines operates the Hub of the Americas, one of the most efficient and successful hubs in Latin America. In 2003, the airline expects to transport 1.3 million passengers.
