ARLINGTON, Va., Aug. 14, 2003—US Airways is experiencing flight cancellations and delays as a result of power outages in the Northeast.
Airports where US Airways operations are currently affected include Albany, N.Y., Cleveland, Detroit, Erie, Pa., Montreal, Newark, New York LaGuardia, Ottawa, Canada, Rochester, N.Y., and Toronto.
Some flights en route to affected cities have been diverted to other airports and aircraft that have not yet departed for the blacked-out airports are being held on the ground at their originating cities.
US Airways will assist delayed customers with communication to their families and other immediate needs where possible, and ground transportation, where available. Based on the circumstances of this event, assistance that might normally be offered to passengers may not be available since public address systems, food service and other such airport operations may not be operating.
US Airways will continue to assess the situation and may make further operational decisions. Please refer to usairways.com/travel/airport/index.htm for further information.
