United Customers Suffer No Penalty

Chicago—August 14, 2003—United will allow customers affected by today’s power outage in the Northeast U.S. and certain parts of Canada to re-book their travel plans without penalty.

Many of United’s flights have been affected by today’s power outage, resulting in flight delays and cancellations.Ê United’s operations were affected at all three New York Metro airports, as well as Detroit, Cleveland, Toledo, Buffalo, Rochester, Toronto and others.

One date or time change to United-operated flights is permitted through Saturday, Aug. 16, with no penalty under this policy.Ê To check the availability of alternate flights, customers should call United’s Reservations line at 800-UNITED-1.Ê Customers should be prepared for long telephone wait times due to power outages at the company’s Detroit Reservations Call Center and increased call volumes.
