Air Canada Continued Improvement

MONTREAL, Aug. 12 /CNW Telbec/ - With 60 per cent of today`s departures
completed, Air Canada reported at 1700 EDT smooth operations and continued
improvements in customer service levels throughout its network.
The airline`s customers are experiencing shorter wait times at check-in
and the carrier`s on-time performance has steadily improved since Sunday when
airport passenger traffic reached a peak.
Pearson Airport experienced a temporary suspension of operations late
this afternoon due to thunderstorm activity. Providing weather conditions in
the Toronto area do not further impact operations, improved performance will
continue this evening and in the coming days.
During the traditionally high demand summer travel season, Air Canada is
reminding customers to arrive at the airport 30 minutes earlier than its
normal recommended check-in times:
- One hour (instead of 30 minutes) for Rapidair flights between Toronto, Montréal and Ottawa, and between Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton;
  - One and a half hours (instead of one hour) for other domestic Canada flights;  - Two hours (instead of 1.5 hours) for transborder U.S. flights;  - Two and a half hours (instead of two hours) for international flights.
In addition, the airline recommends that customers do not arrive at the
airport earlier than these revised check-in times in order to avoid
contributing to longer queues and wait times.
