PHOENIX, Aug. 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/—America West Airlines (NYSE: AWA) announced today that ticket sales at americawest.com reached $50 million for the month of July—the highest ever since the Web site`s inception in 1996. Purchases on americawest.com have soared since the launch of a new booking engine in July 2002 and continued innovations.

America West attributes much of the success of its Web site to the recently enhanced Low Fare Finder, which allows customers to quickly search for fares on the customer`s preferred travel dates as well as surrounding days—one day before and one day after. Customers can also easily scroll in three-day increments before and after their preferred dates. So if the customer`s travel is flexible, they may be able to save even more money.

“America West is continuing to make online booking as easy and efficient as possible,” said Dion Flannery, vice president, scheduling, route planning and Internet distribution. “This record-breaking month is a reflection of how our customers are responding to our business-friendly fares and innovative Web site that makes finding our low fares easy.”

Americawest.com receives nearly 100,000 daily visits. The site provides a variety of travel information including the airline`s lowest available fares, a list of current fare sales, real-time flight information, vacation planning, Web check-in and FlightFund account access.
