US Airways Expands Boston Caribbean Service

US Airways will significantly expand its service to the Caribbean from Boston beginning this fall, with both new routes and additional frequencies.

Beginning Oct. 26, 2003, Boston-San Juan service, which currently operates on Saturdays and Sundays, will increase to daily service.

On Feb. 14, 2004, US Airways will increase its Boston-Cancun service to operate five times per week, with one roundtrip flight on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, as well as two roundtrip flights on Saturday. US Airways currently operates one roundtrip flight on Saturdays only.

Also on Feb. 14, US Airways will begin service on three new Caribbean routes from Boston, subject toforeign government approval. Boston-Montego Bay service will operate four times per week, with roundtrip flights on Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. Boston-Aruba and Boston-Nassau service will operate on Saturdays only.

“With this service expansion, we are doubling Boston’s number of nonstop Caribbean destinations, a region of the world that has been a primary focus for US Airways,” said Douglas D. Leo, US Airways vice president of international. “We are also expanding our weekly frequencies by 140 percent, adding 14 weekly flights to our existing ten. A Caribbean vacation on US Airways has never been more accessible.”

All new and expanded service will be operated using 120-seat Airbus A319 aircraft. US Airways currently serves Bermuda, Cancun and San Juan from Boston, and with the new service, will serve six nonstop destinations in addition to one-stop service to all 25 Caribbean destinations served by US Airways.

US Airways will add flights between Charlotte and Mexico City starting Oct. 26, 2003, and between San José, Costa Rica and both Charlotte and Philadelphia on Nov. 8, 2003.

US Airways, the US Airways Express carriers and US Airways Shuttle provide service to nearly 200 destinations worldwide, including 37 states in the U.S. In the Caribbean, US Airways serves Antigua, Aruba, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, Cancun, Cozumel, Grand Bahama Island, Grand Cayman, Grenada, Montego Bay, Nassau, Providenciales, Punta Cana, San Juan, Santo Domingo, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, St. Thomas, St. Maarten, and St. Croix. US Airways Express also serves North Eleuthera, Governors Harbour, Marsh Harbour and Treasure Cay from select cities in Florida. Through the GoCaribbean network carriers, US Airways serves Anguilla, Dominica, St. Eustatius, Nevis, Port of Spain, Saba, St. Barthelemy, St. Vincent, Tobago, Tortola, and Georgetown, Guyana.
