Cathay Pacific Welcomes W.H.O. Decision

Cathay Pacific Airways today welcomed the decision from the World Health Organisation to remove Taiwan from its list of SARS-affected areas. This decision means that all of Asia is now SARS-free.
The airline has joined with the Taiwan Visitors Association and some local travel agents to create attractive offers to visit Taipei, and it is working closely with the travel industry in Taiwan on offers to draw Taiwanese visitors to Hong Kong.

Cathay Pacific, as Hong Kong`s airline, has launched a number of initiatives to rebuild confidence in travel and attract passengers back to Hong Kong. The airline is also working with the Hong Kong Government and Hong Kong Tourism Board on a global tourism revival campaign.

Cathay Pacific Airways General Manager Corporate Communication Alan Wong said: “Taiwan being lifted from the WHO list, and importantly Asia being declared SARS-free, will bolster our efforts to rebuild tourism and trade. As Hong Kong`s carrier, Cathay Pacific will support Government and travel industry recovery initiatives and continue to work to enhance Hong Kong as Asia`s leading aviation hub.”
