Delta Airline of the Atlanta Pride Festival

12th Jun 2003

ATLANTA, June 11, 2003 - Delta Air Lines today has been named the official airline and a rainbow sponsor of the Atlanta Pride Festival being held June 27-29.

As part of the sponsorship, Delta will:

*  have naming rights to the festival’s hospitality suite at Piedmont Park’s Magnolia Hall
* display an exhibition booth in the festival’s Atlanta Marketplace
* design a float for the Pride Parade commencing on Sunday, June 29 at 1 p.m. from the Civic Center MARTA station.

“With more than 300,000 attendees expected during the festival weekend, we are proudly supporting our employees and customers who attend the Pride celebration,” said Vicki Escarra, executive vice president and chief marketing officer for Delta. Escarra and Delta employees will ride aboard the float during the parade.

In addition to the branded float, Delta will unveil a newly designed product advertisement featuring its diversity message, “Our Diversity is Our Pride,” and a rainbow - the symbol of the Gay and Lesbian community. The carrier also is sponsoring the Pride in the Park Festival on July 26 in central London’s Hyde Park.
Support of the Atlanta Pride Festival continues Delta’s efforts to create an inclusive environment for its employees, customers and the communities where they live.
Escarra is the executive sponsor of Delta’s Gay and Lesbian Employee Network (GLEN). GLEN is one of four employee networking groups inaugurated by Delta in 2001. The airline also supports employee participation in the African American Employee Network (AAEN), the Women’s Employee Network (WEN) and the Latin and Hispanic Employee Network (LHEN).

“Our networks create a forum for employees of common interest to foster professional growth and education, and promote Delta’s inclusive values and corporate goals,” says Paul Graves, vice president of Global Diversity for Delta.

Delta Air Lines, the world’s second largest airline in terms of passengers carried and the leading U.S. carrier across the Atlantic, offers 5,605 flights each day to 440 destinations in 79 countries on Delta, Song, Delta Express, Delta Shuttle, Delta Connection and Delta’s worldwide partners.
