Northwest To Increase Service To Alaska

MINNEAPOLIS—(May 28, 2003)—Northwest Airlines today announced that it will add new service and resume seasonal nonstop flights from its Minneapolis/St. Paul and Detroit hubs to popular vacation destinations in Alaska. The airline’s summer schedule to Anchorage and Fairbanks will be offered through September 1, 2003.
Northwest’s summer service will include a total of 8 daily flights from the lower 48 states to Alaska, offering travelers easy connections to and from Alaska.
New for 2003, Northwest will add a second seasonal daily nonstop between June 7 and Sept. 1 on the Minneapolis/St. Paul - Fairbanks route, further complementing the seasonal nonstop service it offers every year. With two daily nonstops, Northwest will offer even more seats to travelers flying between Minneapolis/St. Paul and Fairbanks, as well as provide more convenient connecting opportunities to Alaska-bound flyers from throughout the Midwest, northeast and southeast parts of the United States.
The Minneapolis/St. Paul - Fairbanks flights will leave Fairbanks at 9 a.m. and at 9:45 p.m. The flights will be operated with a Boeing 757 aircraft that can carry 180 passengers, with 22 seats in first class and 158 seats in coach class
Five Minneapolis/St. Paul - Anchorage Nonstops
From Minneapolis/St. Paul, Northwest will again increase its twice-daily year-round frequencies to Anchorage to five daily flights on a seasonal basis. All five frequencies will be operated with a 757.
A Daily Detroit - Anchorage Nonstop
Northwest will again offer one daily nonstop between Detroit and Anchorage between May 15 and Sept. 1, using a 757 aircraft.

Northwest Airlines has been flying to Alaska for more than 50 years. Northwest’s summer flights are currently available for purchase by calling Northwest Reservations at 1-800-225-2525, via the Internet at nwa.com, or through a travel agent.
