SkyTeam Carriers Best in Colombia

ATLANTA, Feb. 19, 2003 - Delta Air Lines, has been named “The Best Airline in Colombia for 2002” during the XXI Aviatur Sales Congress, held recently in Bogota. Delta’s SkyTeam partner, Air France, was named the third best carrier in Colombia.


Delta, competing against 21 other carriers in Colombia, received the first place listing for excellent in six categories - customer service, timely and effective response to questions, problem solving, competitive fares, attainment of seats, and attention for group plans.
In commenting on the award, Jorge Fernandez, Delta’s director of Latin America & Caribbean, said, “This award solidifies our commitment to Colombia. We are putting our best efforts into serving the business and leisure passengers traveling to and from Colombia.
“We remain committed to giving our passengers the best possible Customer Service from check-in to arrival. In the two years we have been serving Colombia, we have opened up Colombia to the Delta SkyTeam Alliance network offering passengers connections from Bogota via Atlanta to 154 cities in 35 countries,” he added.


Delta received the highest grade with 4.2 points over 5.0, while SkyTeam carrier Air France was at the third spot.

Delta started daily nonstop service between Atlanta and Bogota, Colombia, in December 2002 with its international Boeing 757 aircraft, configured in two classes, business and economy.

Delta operates 256 weekly, nonstop flights between the U.S. and Caribbean and Latin American destinations. Delta provides service to nine cities in the Caribbean, including Aruba, Curacao, Grand Cayman, Montego Bay, Nassau, Providenciales, San Juan, St. Maarten and St. Thomas, as well as to Bermuda. Delta also serves 15 cities in Latin America, including Sao Paulo, Brazil; Santiago, Chile; Bogota, Colombia; San Jose and Liberia, Costa Rica; San Salvador, El Salvador; Guatemala City, Guatemala; Cancun, Guadalajara, Los Cabos, Mexico City, Monterrey, Mexico; Panama City, Panama; Lima, Peru; and Caracas, Venezuela.
