West End Travel Joins EveryFare Program

WASHINGTON, D.C. - West End Travel is the first independent travel agency in the Washington, D.C., area to join the American Airlines EveryFare program. By joining the EveryFare program, West End will have access to American’s popular “Web fares” via the agency’s Global Distribution System (GDS).

“The EveryFare program will provide benefits to our corporate clients by allowing us the ability to offer them all of American’s public fares, including low-price Web fares, through our normal GDS,” said Vivianne Pommier, President of West End Travel. “Many of our corporate clients are huge supporters of American Airlines and spend time on the Internet booking their Web fares. This enhancement will allow us to book these fares for them, and at the same time allow West End Travel to track and receive credit for our clients’ online bookings.

“Now we can capture this information and provide reports for these clients, while offering the benefits of these lower fares and also saving them research time. It’s a winning arrangement for our clients, our agency, and American.”

Craig Kreeger, American’s Vice President-Sales, welcomed West End Travel to the EveryFare program.

“The EveryFare program is just the ticket to give West End Travel the ability to offer our Web fares via their usual GDS, and at the same time help us bring down overall distribution costs,” said Kreeger. “Congratulations to West End Travel for joining the EveryFare program.”

American announced the innovative EveryFare program in September and is making its popular Web fares available for sale by any traditional “bricks and mortar” U.S. or Canadian travel agency that signs up for the EveryFare program, and thus becomes a long-term, lower-cost distribution channel.

The innovative EveryFare program provides these Web fares in exchange for effectively shifting the responsibility for the cost of GDS booking fees from American to the travel agency. American initially gives travel agencies an allowance credit of approximately US$4 per flight coupon. Travel agents then pay to American an amount equal to their own GDS fees, based upon their own choice of GDS services and products.

The allowance paid agencies gradually declines during the term of the contract, to allow EveryFare program participants time to seek lower GDS fees. The result will be lower distribution costs for American on all fares distributed via participating EveryFare agencies.
