Air New Zealand has broken the million-dollar barrier for a single day`s online bookings for the first time ever - demonstrating the strength of New Zealand public support for the new Express Class fares and its simple online booking system.
This historic achievement was fuelled by $760,000 worth of New Zealand customer bookings plus a further $270,000 booked by offshore customers and covers a mix of domestic and international flights.
Air New Zealand Chief Operating Officer Andrew Miller described the million dollar day as “an important milestone”.
“New Zealanders in particular have been quick to adapt to our new method of booking domestic travel. We delivered low fares and fast, online booking and the public has supported us very strongly,” he said.
Air New Zealand`s Express Class fares have prompted over 20 per cent more New Zealanders to fly on the airline than before the new fares were introduced.
