Hamburg Court Backs Ryanair

Ryanair, Europeå‘s only low fares airline, confirmed today that the Appeals Court in Hamburg has backed Ryanair against Lufthansaå‘s attempts to prevent Ryanair from comparing its low fare services from Frankfurt-Hahn Airport with Lufthansaå‘s high fare services from Frankfurt-Main Airport.

The Appeals Court judgment only requires Ryanair to disclose the location and accessibility of the airport, something that everyone in Germany already knows - thanks to Lufthansa! Already 1.5 million people are using the convenient facilities of Frankfurt Hahn airport - and that number is growing everyday.

Commenting on the successful decision of the Appeals Court, Ryanair’s Head of Communications, Paul Fitzsimmons said:

“We thank the Appeals Court in Hamburg for recognising the importance of comparative advertising. Lufthansa have been desperately trying to prevent Ryanair from highlighting how ridiculously high their fares are. The Court of Appeals decision removes an anti-competitive barrier to Ryanair’s comparative advertising with Lufthansa and therefore promotes competition and directly benefits the German consumer.

We will continue to highlight Lufthansa’s ridiculously high fares and to offer our very low fares from Frankfurt-Hahn Airport, Germany’s favourite low fares airport.”
