US Airways Dividend Miles E-Upgrades A Sucess

Since US Airways introduced Dividend Miles E-Upgrades late last year, members have exchanged more than 500,000 paper upgrades for E-Upgrades. Members exchanging paper upgrades for E-Upgrades before Jan. 31, 2003 will receive three E-Upgrades in exchange for each paper upgrade. The new 500-mile E-Upgrades are segment-based and valid on US Airways within North America, the Caribbean, Mexico and Central America.

To take advantage of the three-for-one offer, members must exchange the upgrades at any US Airways Clubs , city ticket office or airport ticket counter by Jan. 31, 2003. Effective Feb. 1, 2003, members will receive two E-Upgrades for every paper upgrade.

“E-Upgrades mean no more paper to lose, no more waiting for upgrades to arrive in the mail, and no more staying up ‘til midnight to call in for that upgrade seat. E-Upgrades are cleared automatically based on member elite status and availability of seats,” said Stephen M. Usery, US Airways vice president of marketing and revenue management.

Dividend Miles E-Upgrades are stored in electronic upgrade “banks” that automatically track each member’s activity - including deposits of new upgrades earned or purchased, and upgrade usage. Members can track their E-Upgrade banks at usairways.com, along with all the rest of their Dividend Miles account activity.

US Airways now leads the industry in providing customers upgrade tools at airport Self-Service Check-In Kiosks. Dividend Miles members can request E-Upgrades while checking in for flights, purchase additional E-Upgrades for current travel needs or to store in their bank for future travel.

Members can purchase E-Upgrades for $50 each - or $40 each for Preferred members - at usairways.com, Self-Service Check-In Kiosks, city ticket offices, US Airways Clubs or airport ticket counters, as well as through Reservations or the Dividend Miles Service Center. Members may redeem 10,000 Dividend Miles for six E-Upgrades. Dividend Miles E-Upgrades are nonrefundable. For full terms and conditions, visit usairways.com/dm/eupgrades.htm.

Beginning March 1, 2003, Dividend Miles Silver Preferred members will earn four E-Upgrades for every 10,000 qualifying miles they fly and Gold Preferred members will receive eight E-Upgrades for every 10,000 miles. Chairman’s Preferred® members will continue to receive unlimited E-Upgrades.

US Airways has also automated the process of clearing upgrade requests. Members now can request upgrade space at the time they make their booking through either usairways.com or US Airways reservations. Members will be automatically cleared according to applicable upgrade rules based on elite membership level and fare type.
