America West Initiates New Service From Its Las Vegas Hub

America West Airlines, (NYSE: AWA), the nation`s largest low-fare hub and spoke carrier, initiated service today between its Las Vegas hub and Washington Dulles International Airport and Toronto, the airline`s second international destination from its Las Vegas hub. The airline also added one daily roundtrip nonstop flight between Las Vegas and Miami International Airport and Dallas/Ft. Worth, which now have two and three roundtrip flights, respectively.

America West offers 85 daily departures to 38 nonstop destinations from its Las Vegas hub. America West`s customers enjoy business-friendly fares that are 40 to 70 percent below most other major airlines and do not require a Saturday night stay. The airline also provides outstanding on-time performance and customer-friendly ticketing policies that allow unused tickets to retain their value for a year and customers to fly standby for free on the same day as the originally scheduled flight.

“Our Las Vegas hub gives America West the unique opportunity to bring customers to or through a very popular destination, which allows customers to mix business with pleasure on the same trip,” said Scott Kirby, executive vice president, sales and marketing.

These new flights are being operated with Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft, which feature seating for 12 in first class and 112 and 138 in the main cabin, respectively.

America West has added seven new destinations from Las Vegas this year. The other six new destinations are Salt Lake City; Colorado Springs, Colo.; Raleigh-Durham, N.C.; Mexico City; and Santa Barbara, Calif.
