Cyprus Gets First A330-200

Cyprus Airways is entering today a new era with the integration into its fleet of its latest generation A330-200 widebody aircraft, which will be followed by a second aircraft in Spring 2003. Both aircraft are being leased from International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC) and powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines.

The Larnaca-based carrier plans to use the A330-200 on its popular existing destinations such as London while having the potential to serve also profitably more distant cities thanks to the long range of the aircraft and its impressive versatility. In addition, the A330-200 large cargo holds are ideally suited to the expansion and growth of the lucrative Cyprus-UK freight market.

Cyprus Airways has chosen a spacious layout, seating 30 passengers in Business and 265 in Economy. Each class is furnished to provide outstanding passenger comfort with individual in flight-entertainment devices through the cabin.

The A330-200 offers the most spacious cabin of any widebody jet in its category, creating a more enjoyable seating arrangement for passengers, while start-of-the art systems help to provide a comfortable atmosphere that reflects the commitment to passenger comfort found in all Airbus aircraft.

The Airbus A330/A340 Family has the most popular cabin in its class, consistently leading in independent passenger surveys. It is also the most successful, with some 750 orders from more than 60 customers, and a route network that criss-crosses the globe with short, medium and long-haul routes.

Cyprus Airways, an all-Airbus operator for over ten years and an A320 launch customer, operates ten Airbus single-aisle aircraft including two A319s and eight A320s on its network in Europe and the Middle East.
