Austrian Airlines Continues to Gather Speed

October sees double-digit growth rates in passenger traffic and load factor.

Having achieved its best-ever quarterly traffic performance figures in September, the Austrian Airlines Group moved up another gear in the month of October 2002. The product and marketing measures taken are beginning to show the desired success. The Group carried 791,241 passengers in the reporting month, 13.1 % more than in October 2001. While available seat kilometers rose by 13.0 %, revenue passenger kilometers increased by no less than 32.2 %. On the strength of these figures, the total passenger load factor rose by a full 10.6 percentage points to reach 72.9 %.

Total Statistics January to October 2002:
The total transportation volume for the ten-month period was 7,635,140 passengers, or 2.7 % above the figure for the comparable period the previous year. While availability measured in seat kilometers remained below the level for 2001 (-0.9 %), revenue passenger kilometers increased by 2.7 %. As a result, the Austrian Airlines Group increased the total load factor of its flights by 2.6 percentage points to 73.8 %. The number of flights made in the period from January to October inclusive was 127,202, or 1.5 % above the figure for the comparable period in 2001.
