Southwest Announces Pheonix Fares

11th Nov 2002

Before you start your holiday
shopping, Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV) wants to give you a gift.  With fares
starting from $29 each way on nonstop flights from Phoenix, Southwest makes
getting away guilt free.
“Southwest Airlines values its relationship with the Phoenix community,”
said Joyce Rogge, Southwest`s senior vice president of marketing.  “We want to
continue to offer our loyal Customers affordable, convenient air travel.”
Examples of these great fares include $29 each way between Phoenix and
Southern California (excluding Orange County), Albuquerque, El Paso, and Las
Vegas.  Southwest Airlines also is offering $59 each way between Phoenix and
Northern California, Salt Lake City, and Reno/Lake Tahoe; $89 each way between
Phoenix and Portland, Seattle, Austin, San Antonio, Houston, Omaha, and
St. Louis; and $99 each way between Phoenix and Nashville, Columbus,
Indianapolis, Louisville, Orlando, Baltimore, Raleigh-Durham, and Tampa.
The special fares starting at $29 each way (good on nonstop flights only)
from Phoenix require a roundtrip purchase and an overnight stay (any night).
The fares are on sale now for travel between Dec. 3, 2002, through
April 4, 2003.  Tickets must be purchased at least fourteen days before
departure and within one day of making reservations.  Tickets are
nonrefundable, but (except for tickets purchased through Southwest`s Group
Tickets Program) if unused may be applied toward the purchase of future travel
on Southwest Airlines without the penalty of a change fee.  Seats are limited
and may not be available on some flights that operate during peak or holiday
travel times, such as Christmas, New Year`s, and Spring Break.  Blackout dates
apply to all Florida destinations between March 13, 2003, through
April 4, 2003.  Fares are subject to change until ticketed, and any change in
itinerary could result in an increase in the fare.  Fares do not include a
federal segment tax of $3 per takeoff and landing.  Fares do not include
airport-assessed passenger facility charges of up to $9 roundtrip or federal
September 11 Security Fees of up to $5 roundtrip.  Orange County`s John Wayne
Airport is not included in this sale.
Southwest Airlines began service to Phoenix in January 1982 with 18 daily
nonstop departures to Albuquerque, El Paso, Houston Hobby, Las Vegas, and San
Diego.  Currently, the carrier operates 181 daily nonstop departures to
38 cities with additional or connecting service to 17 other cities.
