Cathay Pacific Hosts Attendant Career Talk

4th Nov 2002

Cathay Pacific today hosts the Flight Attendant Career Talk and Recruitment Walk-in Day at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. The walk-in day is the kick-off start for the airline`s 800 flight attendant recruitment in the year 2003. Hong Kong residents interested in the job are welcome to participate in the recruitment exercise.

Cathay Pacific has invited undergraduates from various tertiary institutions to attend the career talk. Experienced flight attendants are available to answer applicants` enquiries regarding the job nature and entry requirements of the career. Interested students can have their pre-registration immediately after the talk. This will speed up their application process upon their graduation next year.

The Secretary for Economic Development and Labour of the Hong Kong SAR Stephen Ip, guest speaker for the career talk, encouraged youngsters to take the initiative to invest in themselves in this highly competitive labour market.

Cathay Pacific Director and Chief Operating Officer Philip Chen said, “In this ever-changing and dynamic society, young people have to continuously improve themselves. As a Hong Kong airline, Cathay Pacific is delighted to create job opportunities for Hong Kong people. We look forward to building a better future with everyone in Hong Kong.”

There were about 850 job seekers and 850 students attending today`s event.

Cathay Pacific announced the purchase of 6 new aircraft in May 2002. In doing so, the airline will create over 1,300 jobs in Hong Kong in the coming two years.
