Travel agents have voted easyJet winner of the Leading Budget Airline in Europe category at the 9th World Travel Awards.
The annual awards are among the most prestigious within the travel industry, and recognise the very best in world travel. The voting campaign entailed the emailed distribution of voting forms to over a million travel agents worldwide and elicited a phenomenal response.
Up until now, easyJet has only sold seats direct to consumers so that it can pass on the cost savings to passengers in the form of lower fares. However, from December, when flights from both the easyJet and Go brands will be available from a single site for the first time, easyJet is establishing a website exclusively for the travel trade. While easyJet will continue its policy of not paying commission to middlemen, this will give the travel trade access to the low-cost opportunities that their customers are looking for.
