CanJet Expands To Western Newfoundland

CanJet Airlines, Eastern Canada’s original low-cost, discount airline, is pleased to announce it will expand its route network to western Newfoundland with the introduction of service to Deer Lake beginning on Monday, December 9, 2002. Wayne Morrison, CanJet’s Director of Sales & Community Relations, said today, “With the recently announced reduction of scheduled service to customers in western Newfoundland, the introduction of scheduled jet service to Deer Lake is an opportunity to develop a new market for CanJet while offering consumers a viable, reliable discount alternative in air travel.”

Doug Newson, CanJet’s Director of Marketing & Sales Delivery, stated, “We will initiate the Deer Lake service with three flights weekly on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and, if the demand for additional lift exists, CanJet will respond accordingly. We are also pleased to launch this service with a special $94 one-way introductory on-line fare to/from Halifax and a special $134 one-way introductory on-line fare to/from Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa.” He said the Deer Lake to Halifax service is scheduled to depart at 3:00 p.m. with same plane service to Montreal and Ottawa and connecting service to Toronto at Halifax. The three weekly flights into Deer Lake will operate via Montreal and Halifax with convenient connections at Halifax for Ottawa and Toronto passengers arriving in Deer Lake at 2:20 p.m.

Mr. Newson also announced that CanJet plans to increase service between Moncton and St. John’s with the addition of another non-stop flight each Thursday. This will increase CanJet’s frequency between these two centers to five non-stop flights per week. As well, he stated, “We will also be adding a new Halifax-Montreal morning departure at 8:05 a.m. while moving the afternoon departure to 4:30 p.m. giving customers twice daily direct service in both directions between these two major centers.”
