United Appoints Rosemary Moore to Corporate Affairs

United Airlines (NYSE: UAL) today announced the appointment of Rosemary Moore as senior vice president of Corporate Affairs.  In her new position, which is effective November 4, 2002,  Moore will be responsible for all external and internal communications with customers, media and employees.  Moore is joining United from ChevronTexaco, where she served as vice president of Public and Government Affairs.  She will report directly to Glenn Tilton, chairman, president and chief executive officer.

“I am pleased that Rosemary has decided to join United,” says Tilton.  “This is a critical time for our company and Rosemary`s deep experience and expertise in global communications will play a vital role in helping guide United to a more profitable future.  Rosemary is a great leader and manager and in the years we worked together at ChevronTexaco proved herself to be an indispensable advisor through sound judgment and exceptional strategic guidance.  She is an important addition to our senior management team.”

“I am extremely excited to be joining United,” says Moore.  “Certainly this airline and the rest of the industry will continue to face challenges, but this is a fundamentally strong company with great people and tremendous opportunities ahead of it.  I look forward to working closely with my colleagues to help United achieve new levels of stability and success.”

Prior to the merger of Chevron and Texaco last year, Moore served as Texaco`s vice president of Corporate Communications and Government Affairs.  Before that, she served as an independent communications consultant and, until 1996, as corporate vice president-Corporate Communications, for the Seagram Company Ltd. in New York.  Moore joined Seagram in the United Kingdom in 1988 to establish its international communications and public affairs infrastructure.  In 1990, she transferred to the company`s corporate affairs offices in New York where she directed and coordinated its worldwide communications.
