US Airways: Standby Coupons

US Airways customers purchasing nonrefundable fares will be able to stand by for alternate flights using new standby coupons for travel beginning Oct. 10, 2002.

These new coupons, which cost $100 each, are valid for one-way travel on the originally scheduled travel date, subject to certain limitations.

US Airways Shuttle customers with nonrefundable tickets can continue to stand by for Shuttle travel at no charge until Dec. 31, 2002.

“Our new standby coupons can be purchased in advance and allow customers using nonrefundable fares additional flexibility in their travels,” said Stephen M. Usery, US Airways vice president of marketing and revenue management.

Standby coupons, which are transferable to other individuals, are available for purchase for a flat $100 fee, including all taxes. They can be purchased at any US Airways airport ticket counter or at any of the company’s 16 City Ticket Offices. Ticketed customers with standby coupons who are not checking bags can proceed directly to the departure-boarding gate. The coupon must be presented upon check-in at the gate and will be collected upon boarding. Customers checking bags can present their standby coupon at the airport check-in counter. By the end of the year, customers also will be able to purchase standby coupons from US Airways reservations, and


There is no limit to the number of coupons a customer can purchase, which are valid for up to one year from the date of issue. The standby coupons are nonrefundable and may not be exchanged as form of payment for another US Airways ticket, change fee, or any other miscellaneous fees or services. Lost or stolen coupons have no replacement value.

The new standby coupons are valid for travel on all US Airways, US Airways Express and US Airways Shuttle flights in the U.S.; between the U.S. and Canada; and between the U.S. and Canada and San Juan and the U.S. Virgin Islands; and for flights originating in the U.S. to the Caribbean and Europe.

US Airways, the US Airways Express carriers and US AirwaysUS Airways Express also serves North Eleuthera, Governors Harbour, Marsh Harbour and Treasure Cay from Florida. In Canada, US Airways serves Toronto, Montreal, and Ottawa. US Airways’ European destinations are Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, Madrid, Manchester, Munich, Paris and Rome.
