Stansted Welcomes Second German Airline with New Route to Leipzig

From October 28 Cirrus Airlines a Team Lufthansa partner will fly from Stansted to Leipzig twice daily offering the United Kingdom`s only air link with the city made famous by its trade fairs and composers Bach and Wagner.
Times will allow day trips from either destination. Flights will have a Lufthansa code and bookings can be made now through travel agents or Lufthansa`s website. Cirrus Airlines will use a 50 seat Embraer 145 jet.

Leipzig brings the number of German airports served by Stansted to 14 - making it the UK`s gateway to Germany with twice as many routes as Heathrow. Last week Air Berlin announced it had chosen Stansted to start six new routes to Germany.
With car manufacturers Porsche and BMW building new plants there, Leipzig a city of nearly half a million people is a major business centre as well as being a cultural attraction particularly for classical music lovers. The famous wartime Colditz prison is also close by.
