Singapore Airlines The Toast Of Asia-Pacific Travellers

Singapore Airlines (SIA) swept aside all competition in this year’s Business Traveller Asia-Pacific Awards held in Hong Kong on 20 September.
The 2002 Readers’ Poll, which was conducted among Business Traveller Asia-Pacific’s readership of frequent travellers based mostly in the Asia-Pacific region, saw SIA retain top spot in every major category - World’s Best Airline, Best Asia-Pacific Airline, Best First Class, Best Business Class, Best Economy Class, and Best Frequent Flyer Programme.
Business Traveller Asia-Pacific is in its 21st year of publication, and is one of five regional editions of the magazine; the others are published in the UK, USA, Germany and the Middle East. Readers of Business Traveller are among the world’s most discerning and well-travelled executives, and among the industry’s most valued customers.
Almost 10,000 poll forms were distributed to subscribers, and more than 7% of them responded to the survey compiled by market-research company NFO WorldGroup - Hong Kong.
The Hong Kong-based publication paid tribute to SIA’s excellent showing in the polls by reporting that the subscribers of Business Traveller Asia-Pacific “are among the most knowledgeable, experienced and committed travellers in the region”, and “do not bestow honours lightly, and to win an award in this poll is a tribute to real excellence”.
SIA’s supremacy is not confined to the Pacific. In the 2002 Conde Nast Traveler Business Travel Awards, the Airline took the honours for Best Trans-Pacific Route For Business Class for the fifth year running, as well as Best Trans-Atlantic Route for Business Class. Conde Nast Traveler is one of the most prominent consumer travel magazines in the United States and boasts a circulation of over 800,000 readers.
In July, readers of Que Choisir, a high-profile French consumer magazine, voted SIA ‘Best Airline For Travelling With Children’.
This month, SIA was given a major boost on the corporate transparency front when the Airline was voted Best In The Transport/ Storage/ Communication category in a census carried out by the Securities Investors Association (Singapore). The Most Transparent Company Awards are presented to listed companies that excel in corporate disclosure.
