Frontier Airlines Names David Strafuss Director Of Engineering

Frontier Airlines (Nasdaq: FRNT ) today named David Strafuss as director of engineering, effective immediately. In his new position, Strafuss, 38, will oversee Frontier`s engineering operation, comprised of approximately 65 employees in the areas of engineering, training, fleet operations engineering, technical publications and aircraft records. Strafuss will report directly to Vice President of Maintenance and Engineering Bill Schaudt.

“David`s diverse maintenance experience and outstanding technical background will add a valuable component to Frontier`s maintenance and engineering department,” said Schaudt. “During the next few years, as we transition to an all-Airbus fleet, Frontier will operate two types of aircraft, and David`s experience with a variety of aircraft types and different aspects of the maintenance operation will be extremely valuable to the airline.”


Before joining Frontier, Strafuss served as the Fokker 100/McDonnell Douglas DC9-80 systems lead engineer for American Airlines where he ensured the airline`s compliance with mandated reliability and safety protocols. During his 14-year aviation maintenance career, Strafuss has held a variety of managerial positions with American Airlines, including Fokker 100 senior system engineer, McDonnell Douglas DC9-80 senior system engineer and interiors engineer as well as production supervisor of the airline`s wheel shop and hydraulic shop. Strafuss received his master of business administration from Oklahoma City University in 1999, and holds a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering technology from Kansas State University. He and his wife Traci and two children currently reside in Tulsa, Okla. and plan to relocate to Denver.
