Frontier Airlines Names Tom Johnston As Director, Line Maintenance

Frontier Airlines (Nasdaq: F RNT ) today named Tom Johnston to the position of director, line maintenance, effective immediately. In this newly created position, Johnston will have direct responsibility for the airline`s line maintenance operations at Denver International Airport. Additionally, he will oversee the airline`s field maintenance, including the airline`s El Paso maintenance base, maintenance control and maintenance planning functions. Johnston, 51, is being promoted to director, line maintenance from his current position as manager, “C” check. He will report directly to Vice President of Maintenance Jon Bartram.

“When we made the decision to bring Frontier`s “C” check function in-house last year, Tom was instrumental in ensuring that endeavor was successful,” said Vice President of Maintenance Jon Bartram. “Tom possesses a rare combination of technical expertise and strong leadership qualities, and we look forward to his continued contributions in this new role.”


Johnston brings extensive maintenance and business experience to his new position. He is a co-founder and co-owner of a variety of businesses, including several trade schools located in Utah, Colorado and Kansas. Johnston`s background includes time spent in the trucking industry transporting heavy equipment. Prior to his service with Frontier, he served in various capacities with Continental Airlines in the airline`s maintenance department. Johnston holds an Airframe and PowerPlant license and an F.C.C. license. He attended Grand Junction-based Mesa College and Broomfield-based Colorado Aerotech. Johnston, who is originally from Menomonie, Wis., currently resides in Brighton, Colo. with his wife, Norma, and has three children and nine grandchildren.
