Frontier Airlines Announces This Fiscal Quarter Earnings Estimate

Frontier Airlines (Nasdaq: FRNT) today announced that it expects its earnings per share for its third fiscal quarter ending Dec. 31, 2000 to fall within the range of $0.46 and $0.54 per fully diluted share, as compared to $0.16 per fully diluted share for the same period last year. The airline also reported total revenue per available seat mile (RASM) of 10.37 cents for the month of October 2000. The airline`s operating cost per available seat mile (CASM) for the same period was 9.19 cents.

“We are extremely pleased to see a continuation of very strong revenue and traffic trends as evidenced by our previously released October year-over-year load factor improvement,” said Chief Financial Officer Steve Warnecke. “November`s traffic appears to be showing even greater improvement than October`s year-over-year improvements. In addition, we expect to see positive year-over-year improvements in December because of Y2K concerns that impacted our traffic last year.”

Warnecke continued, “This is our initial attempt to publicly project earnings, and clearly, we are not soothsayers. As any analyst would attest, the airline industry is not one that easily lends itself to projected earnings. Our estimates may be as accurate as the Florida recount, but we will try to provide those interested in following Frontier with more timely and detailed information so that they may come to their own conclusions. We will continue to solicit feedback via our Web site on this new program.”
