Frontier Airlines (Nasdaq: FRNT ) today named Steve Warnecke as chief financial officer and vice president, effective August 24. Warnecke brings over 20 years of accounting, finance and securities experience to the airline and most recently served as president of Colorado-based Integrated Management Company, a hedge fund management firm, and as chief financial officer for Colorado-based Helm Corporation, a subsidiary of Comfort Systems USA (NYSE: FIX). In this newly created position, Warnecke, 42, will lead all finance functions and will report directly to President Sam Addoms.
“Frontier`s growth over the past five years and, in particular, during the past twelve months, has been very gratifying,” said Addoms. “As our success produces increased opportunities for Frontier, Steve`s expertise in the areas of financial analysis and future capital planning functions will be especially useful. In addition, as Wall Street interest in Frontier has grown, Steve will help further communicate Frontier`s positive story to this very important audience.”
Warnecke began his finance career as a staff accountant for Illinois-based McGaldrey, Hendrickson, a regional Certified Public Accounting firm. He also served as controller for Florida-based Carver Enterprises. In 1982, he became chief financial officer of Helm Corporation where he performed all financial, accounting and human resource duties. From 1993-1997, Warnecke served as president of Denver-based Zig Zag Company, a commercial demolition company. In 1997, Warnecke became president of Integrated Management Company where his duties included managing two actively traded hedge funds.
Warnecke holds a bachelor`s degree in business administration from the University of Iowa and has studied tax law at the University of Denver. Warnecke currently resides in Castle Rock, Colo. with his wife Wendy and their two children, Jake and Bryan.
