Spirit Airlines Releases January 2002 Traffic Results

Spirit Airlines, the low-fare specialist, today reported January 2002 traffic figures. System-wide, Spirit currently operates 80 flights daily with 228,551 passengers carried for the month.
For the month of January 2002, the airline’s load factor was 59.9 percent, a decrease from the same period in January 2001. Revenue Passenger Miles (RPM) decreased 11.5 percent for the month over the same time period in year 2001. Available Seat Miles (ASM) increased 4.6 percent for the month as compared to January 2001. “Although the month of January traffic was down from the same period in 2001, Spirit is already hitting record sales in early February,” said Ned Homfeld, chairman and founder of Spirit Airlines.

“February 11, 2002 was Spirit’s best sales day in the company’s 11 year history, a trend we project will continue as new service is launched including service to Denver, Colo. beginning in May,” continued Homfeld.
