Spirit Airlines Soars With Continued Growth In Traffic During May 2001

Spirit Airlines announces continued growth in traffic figures for May 2001. Spirit experienced a 32.3 percent gain in passengers carried from the same period in 2000. This is the 33rd consecutive month that Spirit has experienced gains in passenger traffic. Spirit Airlines’ load factor reached 74.8 percent, up 3.4 percent from May 2000.

“We are able to provide affordable air travel options to our passengers across the country,” said Ned Homfeld, chairman and founder of Spirit Airlines. “While traffic for many other carriers fell in May, Spirit Airlines continues to soar with increases in passenger traffic. We are excited and look forward to continue leading the way as the low fare specialist.”


May’s revenue passenger miles (RPM’s) reached 286,121 with a 37.8 percent gain over May 2000.


Available seat miles (ASMs) continue to rise with a 33.3 percent increase.
