US Airways Traffic Up 15.8 Percent For March

US Airways reported today that revenue passenger miles for March 2001 were up 15.8 percent compared to March 2000, while available seat miles for the month increased 10.3 percent. The passenger load factor for the month was 73.4 percent, an increase of 3.5 percentage points compared to March 2000.

For the first quarter of 2001, revenue passenger miles were up 17.1 percent compared to the same period in 2000, while available seat miles were up 13.3 percent year-over-year. The passenger load factor for the period was 66.2 percent, an increase of 2.1 percentage points compared to 2000.


The four wholly owned subsidiaries of US Airways Group, Inc.—Allegheny Airlines, Inc.; Piedmont Airlines, Inc.; Potomac Air; and PSA Airlines, Inc.—reported that revenue passenger miles for March were down 6.1 percent compared to March 2000, while available seat miles for the month were down 8.3 percent. The passenger load factor for the month was 56.8 percent, an increase of 1.3 percentage points compared to March 2000.


For the first quarter of 2001, US Airways Express revenue passenger miles were down 3.5 percent compared to the same period in 2000, while available seat miles were up 2.6 percent. The passenger load factor for the period was 51.2 percent, a decrease of 0.5 percentage points from 2000.
