USAirways.Com Named Best Airline Web Site By NPD New Media Services

US Airways’ popular Web site - usairways.com - was named number one in customer satisfaction among the major airline Web sites in the Winter 2000 survey conducted by NPD New Media Services, which is part of NPD Group and one of the nation’s largest marketing research firms.

The NPD survey, which is based upon customer responses, ranked six major airline Web sites and cited usairways.com for its user friendliness and for offering accurate and relevant search results. Customers also recognized usairways.com for having the most up-to-date site information, and for the ability to seamlessly find the lowest fares on specific routes.

“The best means of measuring performance is through the eyes of customers,” said
US Airways Vice President of Sales Steven Tracas. “We listened to our customers and made significant enhancements to the site. As a result, usairways.com is easier to use, simpler to follow, and is the site of choice for many airline travelers. We are delighted to receive this distinguished honor.”

The NPD survey measured airline Web sites in the areas of content, special offers, ease of use, breadth of choice and the ability to meet multiple customer needs.

US Airways introduced its Web site in February 1996. The site was redesigned in March 2000, bringing a number of attractive new features, including a more efficient search option and the ability for customers to find the lowest available fare before choosing a specific flight. US Airways also added icon buttons to make the site easier to navigate, and enhanced the help functions, which now are accessible from anywhere on the site.

In the summer of 2000, usairways.com received the top airline ranking among 10 airline Web sites from Gomez Advisors for its ease of use, and was named the number one airline Web site by eMarketer, which evaluated 150 airline Web sites.
