US Airways Traffic Up 7.4 Percent For July

US Airways reported today that revenue passenger miles for July 2001 were up 7.4 percent compared to July 2000, while available seat miles for the month increased 6.4 percent. The passenger load factor for the month was 76.9 percent, an increase of 0.7 percentage points compared to July 2000.

Year-to-date revenue passenger miles were up 12.2 percent, compared to the same period in 2000, while available seat miles were up 11.3 percent year-over-year. The passenger load factor for the seven-month period was 71.1 percent, an increase of 0.6 percentage points compared to 2000.


The four wholly owned subsidiaries of US Airways Group, Inc.—Allegheny Airlines, Inc.; Piedmont Airlines, Inc.; Potomac Air; and PSA Airlines, Inc.—reported that revenue passenger miles for July were up 1.9 percent compared to July 2000, while available seat miles for the month were up 2.1 percent. The passenger load factor for the month was 58.3 percent, a decrease of 0.1 percentage points compared to July 2000.


Year-to-date, US Airways Express revenue passenger miles were down 0.9 percent compared to the same period in 2000, while available seat miles were down 0.7 percent. The passenger load factor for the seven-month period was 56.2 percent, a decrease of 0.1 percentage points from 2000.
