US Airways Announces New Travel Agent

US Airways announced today a new travel agency commission cap structure, effective 12:01 a.m., Eastern time, Aug. 24, 2001, for all US Airways, US Airways Express, US Airways Shuttle and MetroJet tickets issued by travel agents in the United States (including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands) and Canada.

Tickets purchased in the United States for travel within the United States (including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands), and between the United States and Canada will continue to earn a 5 percent base commission, now with a maximum payment of $20 for each roundtrip flight and $10 for each one-way flight. Tickets purchased in Canada for travel between Canada and the United States (including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands), and within the United States will continue to earn a 5 percent base commission, now with a maximum payment of $28 (CAD) for roundtrip flights and $14 (CAD) for one-way flights.


Tickets purchased in the United States and Canada for travel to international destinations will continue to earn a 5 percent base commission with a maximum payment of $100 ($140 CAD) for roundtrip flights or $50 ($70 CAD) for one-way flights. This payment rate applies to all international tickets purchased in the United States (including Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands) or Canada, for travel itineraries which include any destinations outside these points.


US Airways also has restructured its base commission rate for tickets issued by travel agents in Bermuda, Mexico and the Caribbean (excluding Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands). Effective 12:01 a.m., Eastern time, Aug. 24, 2001, the base commission rate will be 6 percent.


US Airways will make no further comment beyond this news release.
