American Airlines Raises $617 Million in Financing

FORT WORTH, Texas - American Airlines announced that it had raised $617 million Tuesday through an aircraft-secured bond financing in the public capital markets. The bonds sold in this financing were structured as enhanced equipment trust certificates (EETC) and were credit-wrapped by an AAA-rated insurance provider, MBIA Insurance Corporation.
American Airlines is the world’s largest carrier. American, in concert with American Eagle and the AmericanConnection carriers, makes up the American Airlines network. Together, they serve more than 250 cities in 41 countries and territories with approximately 4,400 daily flights. The combined American Airlines network fleet numbers more than 1,100 aircraft.
