Southwest Airlines Reports November Traffic Up 14.7 Percent

Southwest Airlines Co. (NYSE: LUV)
announced today that the Company flew 3.6 billion revenue passenger miles
(RPMs) in November 2000, a 14.7 percent increase from the 3.1 billion RPMs
flown in November 1999.  Available seat miles (ASMs) increased 13.2 percent to
5.1 billion from the November 1999 level of 4.5 billion.  The load factor for
the month was 70.7 percent, up 0.9 points from 1999.
 
For the eleven months ended November 30, 2000, Southwest flew 38.7 billion
RPMs, compared to the 33.4 billion RPMs recorded for the same period of 1999,
an increase of 15.8 percent.  Available seat miles increased 13.5 percent to
54.6 billion from the 1999 level of 48.1 billion.  The year-to-date load
factor was 70.9 percent, up 1.5 points from the same period last year.
