Southwest Airlines Co. announced today that the Company flew 3.0 billion revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in February 2000, a 19.9 percent increase from the 2.5 billion RPMs flown in February 1999. Available seat miles (ASMs) increased 16.7 percent to 4.5 billion from the February 1999 level of 3.9 billion. The load factor for the month was 67.2 percent, up 1.7 points from 1999.
For the first two months of 2000, Southwest flew 5.9 billion RPMs, compared to the 5.0 billion RPMs recorded for the same period of 1999, an increase of 17.4 percent. Available seat miles increased 15.0 percent to 9.3 billion from the 1999 level of 8.0 billion. The year-to-date load factor was 63.6 percent, compared to 62.2 percent for the same period last year.
