Southwest Airlines Co. announced today that the Company flew 3,254.0 million revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in June 1999, a 14.1 percent increase from the 2,852.6 million RPMs flown in June 1998. Available seat miles (ASMs) increased 10.6 percent to 4,340.2 million from the June 1998 level of 3,925.3 million. The load factor for the month was 75.0 percent, up 2.3 points from June 1998.
For the second quarter 1999, Southwest flew 9,471.0 million RPMs, compared with the 8,225.1 million RPMs recorded for the same period of 1998, an increase of 15.1 percent. Available seat miles increased 10.5 percent to 12,947.8 million from the second quarter 1998 level of 11,712.9 million. The second quarter 1999 load factor was 73.1 percent, up 2.9 points from the same period last year.
For the first half of 1999, Southwest flew 17,517.5 million RPMs, compared with the 15,124.0 million RPMs recorded for the same period in 1998, an increase of 15.8 percent. Available seat miles increased 10.3 percent to 25,340.8 million from the 1998 level of 22,983.1 million. The year-to-date load factor was 69.1 percent, up 3.3 points from the same period last year.
