Kansas City, MO—Vanguard Airlines, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: VNGD) today announced the continued expansion of its Kansas City hub. Starting on March 28, the airline will phase in seven daily round-trip flights as it builds capacity in anticipation of spring and summer demand for travel. New service from Kansas City will include a third daily flight to Los Angeles, second and third daily flights to Las Vegas, a third daily flight to New York’s LaGuardia Airport, two daily flights to Orlando and a previously announced second daily flight to San Francisco. In addition, Vanguard will re-launch service to Myrtle Beach with three weekly flights.
The increased service will bring the company’s peak-day flights to 74—a 28 percent increase from the 58 peak-day flights currently operated—and give Vanguard its largest-ever presence in Kansas City.
“Vanguard`s expansion is fueled by growing demand and recent record booking levels for the coming spring and summer travel seasons,” said Scott Dickson, CEO and President of Vanguard Airlines. “We are also pleased that our yields, or average fares, are up—although still at levels that make them among the most attractive in the nation for travelers. This new service continues our commitment to expand our Kansas City hub and offer more options to our hometown and nationwide passengers. The new service is also facilitated by our continuing efforts to grow our fleet with modern MD-80 aircraft.”
