Vanguard Airlines Reports March Traffic

Kansas City, Mo.—Vanguard Airlines, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: VNGD) reported traffic for the month of March 2002 of 116.9 million revenue passenger miles (RPMs). Capacity was 162.4 million available seat miles (ASMs). Load factor was 72.0 percent.


As compared to March of last year, traffic increased 20 percent from 97.1 million RPMs; capacity increased 24 percent from 131.0 million ASMs; and load factor decreased 2.1 points from 74.1 percent. For the first three months of 2002, load factor increased 5.3 points to 65.2 percent from 59.9 percent; RPMs increased 26 percent to 301.8 million from 238.8 million; and ASMs increased 16 percent to 462.5 million from 398.5 million, in each case as compared to the first three months of 2001.


“Passengers continue to take advantage of our expanded service,” said Scott Dickson, CEO and President of Vanguard Airlines. “In the last six months, Vanguard has added new nonstop service from Kansas City to Colorado Springs and Fort Lauderdale and returned to Myrtle Beach. We plan to continue our expansion over the coming months with eight new daily flights from our Kansas City hub including new service to Orlando and Seattle and additional service to Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New York City and San Francisco.”
