Vanguard Airlines Reports December Traffic

Kansas City, MO—Vanguard Airlines, Inc. (NasdaqSC: VNGD) reported that traffic for the month of December 2000 increased 18 percent to approximately 76.7 million revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in December 2000 from approximately 64.8 million in December 1999. Capacity increased 19 percent to approximately 138.1 million available seat miles (ASMs) in December 2000 versus 116.3 million in December 1999. Load factor was nearly unchanged, slipping 0.1 point to 55.6 percent in December 2000 from 55.7 percent in December 1999.


For the year, RPMs increased 13 percent to approximately 963.2 million from approximately 854.8 million in 1999. In 2000, ASMs increased 26 percent to approximately 1,626.2 million from approximately 1,295.8 million in 1999. Load factor for the year decreased approximately seven points to 59.2 percent in 2000 from 66.0 percent in 1999.


Kansas City-based Vanguard Airlines, which began service in December 1994, is a value-priced, 100 percent ticketless passenger airline. The airline provides convenient, scheduled jet service to thirteen cities: Atlanta, Austin, Buffalo/Niagara Falls, Chicago-Midway, Dallas/Ft.
