Kansas City, MO—Vanguard Airlines, Inc. (NasdaqSC: VNGD) reported traffic for the month of January 2001 of 60.1 million revenue passenger miles (RPMs). Capacity was 141.9 million available seat miles (ASMs). January load factor was 42.4 percent.
Traffic decreased eight percent for the month from approximately 65.2 million RPMs in January 2000. Capacity increased 31 percent from 108.4 million ASMs in January 2000. Load factor decreased approximately 18 points from 60.1 percent in January 2000.
Jeff Potter, CEO and President of Vanguard Airlines, said, “Comparisons between the two periods should take into account significant changes in the airline’s route system between the periods. In late 2000 and early 2001, all weekday flights were redirected into a single Kansas City-focused hub-and-spoke network, and three new nonstop routes were inaugurated. At the same time, five routes, not a part of the Kansas City hub, were dropped.”
