Vanguard Airlines Signs Five-Year Agreement With Sabre

Kansas City, MO - Vanguard Airlines, Inc. (NasdaqSC: VNGD) today announced that it has signed a five-year agreement with Sabre Holdings Corporation for reservations and airport check-in services. The agreement is part of Vanguard’s recent focused effort of reinvestment to improve its coast-to-coast reliability, upgrade technology and enhance the overall level of customer service. The deal will improve Vanguard’s distribution within the travel agency community by offering direct access to inventory through the Sabre system.

“We are sad to end our relationship with Open Skies, which is a great product for newer and nontraditional airlines,” said Greg Aretakis, vice president of marketing for Vanguard Airlines. “Sabre is more geared toward a traditional product delivery method, and will allow us greater availability within the travel agency community.”

Beyond simplifying the reservations and check-in processes, additional Sabre products will allow Vanguard to expand on several customer service features, including electronic ticketing, advanced inventory controls, baggage tracking and pre-reserved seating.

“This agreement confirms our commitment to providing small and mid-sized carriers with services and solutions to grow their business,” said Joe Saliba, acting president, Outsourcing and Software Solutions for Sabre. “As Vanguard faces more advanced technological challenges, Sabre will be there to offer a full continuum of information technology solutions tailored to meet their unique needs.”

Vanguard will implement the Sabre® Passenger Reservation System, Sabre ACS? passenger check-in system, Sabre® Qik-ResTM reservation management system and Sabre® QikTM passenger travel management system. The four products are all part of Sabre® eMergoTM Web-enabled solutions, a new application service provider (ASP) offering that simplifies delivery and operations for all carrier segments.
