Kansas City, MO—Vanguard Airlines, Inc. (NasdaqSC: VNGD) reported traffic for the month of April 2001 of 92.9 million revenue passenger miles (RPMs). Capacity was 129.9 million available seat miles (ASMs). April load factor was 71.5 percent, the highest ever for the airline in April.
Traffic increased 10 percent for the month from 84.2 million RPMs in April 2000. Capacity decreased five percent from 136.7 million ASMs in April 2000. Load factor increased 9.9 points from 61.6 percent in April 2000.
Year-to-date RPMs increased 14 percent to 331.7 million from 290.7 million in 2000. RPMs increased year over year despite a decline in passengers due to the Company reconfiguring its operations to longer-haul routes. Year-to-date ASMs increased 10 percent to 528.5 million from 482.6 million in 2000. Year-to-date load factor increased 2.6 points to 62.8 percent from 60.2 percent in 2000.
