Vanguard Airlines Reports May Traffic

Kansas City, MO—Vanguard Airlines, Inc. (NasdaqSC: VNGD) reported traffic for the month of May 2001 of 93.6 million revenue passenger miles (RPMs). Capacity was 133.9 million available seat miles (ASMs). May load factor was 69.9 percent.


As compared to May of last year, traffic increased 11 percent from 84.5 million RPMs in May 2000. Capacity decreased seven percent from 143.3 million ASMs in May 2000. Load factor increased 10.9 points from 59.0 percent in May 2000.


Vanguard Airlines recently recommitted itself to medium-to-long-haul flying from its Kansas City hub. Since the implementation of these changes in the last part of 2000, Vanguard has seen load factors increase in 2001 from 42.4 percent in January to 65.0 percent in February, 74.1 percent in March, 71.5 percent in April and 69.9 percent in May.
