Vanguard Airlines Reports June Traffic

Kansas City, MO—Vanguard Airlines, Inc. (NasdaqSC: VNGD) reported traffic for the month of June 2001 of 97.5 million revenue passenger miles (RPMs). Capacity was 130.1 million available seat miles (ASMs). June load factor was 75.0 percent, the highest ever reported by Vanguard.


As compared to June of last year, load factor increased 11.3 points from 63.7 percent. Traffic decreased five percent from 102.8 million RPMs in June 2000. Capacity decreased 19 percent from 161.3 million ASMs in June 2000.


Scott Dickson, CEO and President of Vanguard Airlines, said, “After six months of operating medium-to-long-haul flights from our Kansas City hub, Vanguard has seen load factors increase from 42.4 percent in January to the highest-ever monthly load factors for March, April and June. In addition, the company has recently added a third MD-80-series aircraft to the fleet, launched SkyBoxä Business Class service, announced service to Reno/Lake Tahoe beginning August 12 and implemented more effective yield management controls that have resulted in recent increases in our monthly average fares. We are pleased with the steps the company has taken over the last few months.”
