Vanguard Airlines Receives Fifth MD-80-Series Aircraft

Kansas City, MO—Vanguard Airlines, Inc. (NasdaqSC: VNGD) has added a fifth MD-80-series aircraft to its fleet. The Company this week took delivery of the Boeing MD-80 aircraft, which is configured to seat 132 passengers, including 12 SkyBox? Business Class seats. The aircraft will operate in conjunction with the airline`s September 9 schedule, which adds MD-80 service to Pittsburgh.

The September 9 addition of Pittsburgh will mark the eighth Vanguard destination to be served with the MD-80 business class SkyBox?. We have commitments to lease four more MD-80-series aircraft for the balance of 2001. These aircraft will be used for both replacement of 737 aircraft and for growth, including the introduction of a new destination later this year.
