Kansas City, MO—Vanguard Airlines, Inc. (NasdaqSC: VNGD) reported that for the month of August 2000 traffic decreased 5 percent to approximately 83.4 million revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in August 2000 from approximately 87.7 million in August 1999. Capacity increased 15 percent to approximately 146.6 million available seat miles (ASMs) in August 2000 versus 127.9 million in August 1999. Load factor decreased approximately 12 points to 56.9 percent in August 2000 from approximately 68.6 percent in August 1999.

Year-to-date RPMs increased 15 percent to approximately 661.3 million in 2000 from approximately 572.9 million in 1999. Year-to-date ASMs increased 34 percent to approximately 1,087.8 million in 2000 from approximately 814.2 million in 1999. Year-to-date load factor decreased approximately 10 points to 60.8 percent in 2000 from 70.4 percent in 1999.
